For decades, the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra resonated with elegance and charm, befitting its home at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. With a repertoire that blended jazz, ragtime, standards, and beloved Disney tunes, the ensemble became an essential part of the resort’s atmosphere, captivating guests with music.
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought unforeseen challenges to the hospitality and entertainment industries. As Disney World adjusted its operations to ensure guest and staff safety, many experiences, including live entertainment, were temporarily suspended. The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra played their final set in October 2020.
Yet, the musicians were not ready to let their story end there. Fueled by their passion for performance the members of the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra reimagined their future. They continue to perform under a new name – the Palm Beach Society Orchestra. Embracing their new identity as the Palm Beach Society Orchestra, the group carried forward the spirit, style, and repertoire that made them famous.
Though their surroundings may have changed, the core values and musical excellence that defined the ensemble remain intact. The musicians have preserved the core traditions and musical legacy that endeared them to so many, while also embracing the opportunities and challenges of a new landscape.
